A few months ago, I had my first travel articles converted into apps with GPSmycity. This week, I am pleased to announce three new article apps – read on to find out more!
What is GPSmycity?
If you haven’t already heard, GPSmycity is a travel app that allows you to download city walks and travel articles to your iOS device for free. You then have the option to upgrade each article (for a small fee) to include maps, which are connected to the GPS on your phone. This way, as you read an article, you can track your path around the city and go exactly where the author went.
Why not just read the article online?
My favourite thing about travel article apps are that they are offline. You can download the articles before you go (all for free) and then read them on the aeroplane, or on long bus journeys. It’s a great way to get excited about the trip ahead! Then, when you actually arrive at the destination, you don’t need to rely on good internet connection – the GPS on your phone will suffice.
When you visit a new city, it often takes a lot of time working out what to do and where to go. If you have a trusted travel blogger who has been there before you, this app is perfect – it does all that planning for you, giving you directions and advice on what there is to see. Plus, you can choose articles specific to your interests, something not always possible on an organised tour.
My Travel Article Apps
I’m launching three new article apps today from some of my recent travels. Please download them for free and keep them in your pocket! If you want to try upgrading, I am giving away A Weekend in Hamburg free of charge this week only. This will give you access to a map locating all of the sites in the article.
Just click on my article links below to download the app on your iOS device. Then, open up the app and you will be redirected to the appropriate article. Happy travels!
- A Weekend in Hamburg
- Schloss Sanssouci, Potsdam
- York, Northern England
- Herberton Historic Village
- Sydney, NSW

Note: If you upgrade any of my available articles in the future, I will receive a few cents too, which will help in the upkeep of my blog!
What an awesome idea Jenny, love it. Now I just need to go in some overseas trips so I can download one.

Thanks Miriam! It’s great that the articles are free to download. You can keep them on your phone and read them anywhere for a bit of inspiration! Hope you get to go on an overseas trip soon 🙂

Hi Jenny. Well done! I just had a confusion: when I click on the links to your articles, they all seem to direct me to the same general GPSmycity app page..

Thanks for your feedback – if you click on the link, it should direct you first to the GPSmycity app page, where you can download the app. After you download the app, it should then automatically take you to my blog post. If it doesn’t, let me know and I’ll investigate!

Congratulations but I do not have an Apple device and never have. I’m happy to follow your adventures via your blog!

Not a problem – I’m sure the app will develop soon enough to be used on all sorts of devices, but I’m glad you are happy following the blog!

I wish I could “get into” this kind of thing, but being a dynosaur, I just can’t get excited about apps. I don’t even like using uber! I’m a phone and paper kind of guy, I guess.

Not to worry – it’s good having lots of options and sometimes I prefer the paper option too 🙂
