Tübingen

Tübingen is a perfect day trip from Stuttgart!  This quaint town full of colourful half-timbered houses has been home to famous scientists, neurologists and poets.  Did you know, DNA was discovered in the university here? You can check out the small exhibition in the castle on the hill.  Later, drop into a local pub for a schnitzel and beer before taking a walk through the cobbled laneways to find the crooked bridge and the botanical gardens.

Exploring the Old Town

I wonder what it would be like to be a local here, waking up every day and stepping out your front door into this fairytale village?  Imagine not knowing anything different?  Would it still hold such charming appeal?  Like most European cities, this little town has been through many wars, fire and even the plague.  But it still stands today, a lively university town in the heart of Baden-Württemburg ready to be explored!

  1. I knew someone who spent their year abroad in Tübingen – those half-timbered buildings look like they’ve come straight out of a fairytale! If I ever visit Stuttgart, I’ll definitely set aside time to visit Tübingen too 🙂

      1. I know, they definitely lucked out with Tübingen! Europe has a fair number of beautiful towns which look like they’ve been plucked straight out of fairytales.
