Australia is full of wonderful and unique wildlife, if you’re lucky enough to spot it in the wild!  This can be a bit difficult as a lot of the animals are extremely shy. If you’re only here for a short time and are desperate to see some kangaroos and koalas, then I’d highly recommend dropping into Potoroo Palace, a native animal sanctuary just outside of Merimbula, N.S.W. The staff are super friendly and, especially if you ask questions, they are very happy to help you get up close-and-personal with some of the local animals.  Cuddle a kangaroo, feed an emu and even stroke a Tawny Frogmouth, if you’re game!  As the animals here have, at some stage, either been injured and/or rescued, they all have names and unique personalities.  Here are just a few snap shots from the visit!

What is your favourite Australian animal?  Have you seen it in the wild?

  1. I’ve been thinking about applying for a work visa to live in Australia some time this year and this post just gave me even more reason to do it! I love furry animals! Although by what I can see from your photos, kangaroos seem to be much bigger than what I imagine them to be and I feel like I might get scared haha
